Living Diorama

Some shots of my CG animated diorama that I created in Blender and rendered with Eevee. The scene was created to resemble stop-motion and tilt-shift photography, with inspiration taken from the Alpine towns of Central Europe. To animate such a large number of characters I created pose-libraries and looping animations that I could reuse across a standard rig, and I used spline paths so that I could time all walking characters to a 60-second loop and make fast adjustments to the overall scene.

The music is 'Fantasy Ambiance' by Alexander Nakarada from serpentsoundstudios.com

I made a variety of buildings then swapped the colours and details between them to create a whole town.

I modelled the characters in the same style as the buildings, but it was tricky to get such low-poly models to deform believably.
